How to Troubleshoot a JBL PC Speaker for Distorted Sound

JBL computer speakers affix to your pc via the audio output jack and supply better sound quality compared to internal computer speaker. Most JBL computer speaker systems are active or self-powered, and therefore they have to be connected to an electric outlet to be able to amplify the audio signal. Audio distortion is seen as a static, crackling or hissing sounds and could possibly be the consequence of interference, overdrive (when the signal is too "hot"), faulty hardware or perhaps a corrupted sound file.

Look for interference by turning off your monitor and listening for distortion. If the noise is eradicated by turning off the monitor, move speakers and speaker cables from the monitor. Examine the speaker contacts. Make sure that the speakers are connected to the right audio jack(s) on the rear of the computer. JBL speaker cables are color coded and the green-tipped cable must be connected to the green primary audio output jack in your sound card. Cables should be plugged in snugly and completely. When there is any doubt concerning the connection, unplug after which plug the cable to the jack again. Adjust the amount of the sound card. If the output signal is over-driven (the audio signal is too "hot") this might cause distortion. Double-click the speaker icon in the underside right corner of one's screen to create up the audio levels/volume get a grip on panel. Reduce the main audio volume slider by hitting it and dragging downward before slider is midway between your maximum and minimum settings. Adjust the speaker volume and listen for distortion. Adjust the treble and bass knobs on the subwoofer, setting them right back at the central/nominal midway setting. Many JBL computer speaker systems incorporate a powered subwoofer for added bass response. If the subwoofer has been overpowered by the bass signal and causing distortion, this can cure it. Test the JBL speakers through yet another audio source. Plug the green-tipped speaker cable in to yet another computer, a laptop or the headphone jack on a portable CD player or digital media device. Turn the amount down completely and play an audio file, bringing the speaker volume up to the sound reaches an appropriate listening volume. If distortion continues to be present, the issue could be the JBL speakers or speaker cables. If the distortion is finished, the issue is probably with the initial computer's sound card.
